Coffee & Company
Coffee & Company began as a seed of an idea during a conversation between two elders who wanted to see the church open during the week and also felt that there may be people both in the church and in the wider community who were perhaps on their own and would appreciate somewhere to come for...... you've guessed it, coffee and a chat.
So, we opened up the church hall one Wednesday afternoon three years ago, put the kettle on, and six people turned up! Since then the group has steadily grown year on year and we now have around 30 people meeting every week. Initially it was predominantly ladies, but we now have three gentlemen and two couples which is very encouraging.
The members of the group enjoy dominoes, Scrabble and other board games and we have a group of jigsaw fanatics as well so plenty goes on , and the noise and laughter is great to hear. Some ladies are happy to bring knitting or sewing and the group also supports the Craft Fair which is held each year.
We are open to non-church members, those of any faith or none and have a large sign outside the hall door to welcome visitors and people often join us over the summer period if they are visiting Keith - we even had a lady who popped in while waiting for a bus!
There is no charge for the teas/coffees and scones/pancakes, the latter being supplied by the group members on a rota basis. We put a basket out for donations and with these we organise two outings per year as well as a Christmas Party or Lunch.
We must have done something right as when we say we are having a break over Christmas or in the summer, there are cries of "What are we going to do for the next few weeks?"
So there you have our story... if you are in Keith on a Wednesday afternoon please join us, as they say "Come in for your Fly cuppa!"
Coffee and Company every Wednesday 2pm-4pm .
